Erica Colaianne

Erica Colaianne leads social communications and public engagement at the University of Michigan. She develops innovative strategies leveraging the expertise at the institution to address societal challenges by crafting engaging, informational, and inclusive content. Erica has spearheaded communications efforts to elevate crucial information to the many audiences of one of the world’s top universities, listening to the concerns of communities to create constructive conversations that enhance the public good. Through her creative planning, she demonstrates the immense impact the university has across the state of Michigan while also amplifying important stories about Michigan community members.

Previously, Erica led marketing and communications efforts at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, and guided the integrated communications and community engagement campaign as Oakwood Healthcare, Botsford Hospital, and Beaumont Health System merged to become Beaumont Health. Early in her career, before moving into the communications and public relations field at Berg Muirhead & Associates, Erica was a journalist for Heritage Media and MLive Media Group. She has a Master of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wayne State University.

Erica is an outdoor enthusiast constantly seeking an adventure that requires hiking boots. She is passionate about promoting and supporting wellbeing for all animals around the world, caring for the environment, and advancing efforts that help ensure everyone has access to healthy food and clean water. She finds immense joy in spending time with her husband and two stepdaughters, and of course her dogs Fletcher and Winston.
